Consultant of the Month – Six Monthly Winner
We recently held our second company summit, which gives us the opportunity to bring everyone together to discuss the past six months, share what’s coming in the future and celebrate our fantastic team.
Each month we award a Consultant of the Month, culminating in a 6 monthly overall winner. We had 6 exceptional nominations including someone building a team from scratch and a nomination from a client. It was a tough decision to make as there were six fantastic members of staff to choose from, however we were delighted to announce Shelly Allam as our winner.
Shelly stood out for her consistent approach to business development, commitment to networking and getting Solutions Recruitment onto several preferred supplier lists. She truly champions the Solutions brand and is a very worthy winner. She has all the right attributes that we look for in an employee and is an excellent example of how to develop a sector specialism within recruitment.
If you’d like to know more about Shelly, you can read our Consultant of the Year question and answer below:
- What’s your name?
- Which office are you based at?
- What’s your job title?
Senior Engineering Consultant
- Which sectors do you work in and which is your favourite?
I work within the engineering sector so my role is extremely varied. Engineering has many different strands to it, but I could narrow it down to: manufacturing, precision and control. I don’t think I could choose a favourite part of my role!
- How did you get into recruitment?
I spent 15 years of my career selling media solutions before seeing a role advertised in recruitment. I thought, “If I can sell media, why not sell services to people instead?” so I registered my interest and was successful in securing the role.
- How long have you been with Solutions?
I started my role with Solutions in November 2015, so just over 18 months.
- What do you like most about working for Solutions?
The thing I like most about working for Solutions is that you are left to get on with your work. There’s no micro-management, you are just trusted to get on with what you do best.
The directors are also brilliant – they’re all really approachable. If you have any problems to discuss, you can speak to them directly (we all have their mobile numbers) and they’re all happy to help.
- What do you find most challenging?
I relocated to the North East after living in London for 25 years, so the biggest challenge for me was making connections in an area that I’m not familiar with. However I have enjoyed the challenge and have received great support from the Solutions team.
- What’s your top tip for clients/candidates?
My top tip for clients and candidates would be very similar; find a recruiter that really understands you and your business (or skillset in the case of candidates) and trust them to do their job.
- And finally, how does it feel to be named Consultant of the Year?
I’m still in shock and quite speechless about it, which isn’t like me! There were five other consultants to contend with who are all brilliant in their fields, so I couldn’t believe it. As I’m fairly new to the company, I never would have expected it – I haven’t stopped smiling since!
