Job title – CNC Service Engineer

Salary and package – £30,000 – £32,500 + life insurance / 33 days holiday / fully expensed company van / 3% contributory pension / paid door 2 door / P60 earnings of circa £60,000.

A vacancy has arisen within a multinational, multimillion pound special purpose machinery manufacturer in the East Midlands.
As a group, they are comprised of numerous machinery manufacturers, all of which specialise in making their own type of equipment which perfectly complements the group as a whole.

The office in Derby is the sole business hub and is responsible for providing clients with CNC controlled woodworking machinery all over the UK.
Their product list includes edge banders, sanders, wall saws and much more.

Due to increased sales, we now need an Electrically biased Engineer who has experience on CNC machinery to join ASAP.
The Role

Upon joining, you will go through a series of training programmes.
Training will consist of shadowing existing Field Service Engineers, carrying out supervised work, in-house training on the machinery – mechanically/electrically & controls, inductions, health and safety and training in Europe.

The equipment that you will be working on is some of the best and of the highest standard available.
You will get a full breadth of experience and not two days the same!

You core function is the maintenance/respond to breakdowns, servicing when required and full installation of these machines!

You will be responsible for;

  • Travelling around the Midlands and covering the UK, responding to breakdowns and service callouts which have been sent too and organised in your IPAD.
  • Attending customer’s premises, go through a site induction, attend any given machine – CNC routers, borers, tenoners, edge-banders, saws and sanding machines for example and carry out a service or breakdown maintenance duties.
  • Electrically you will be reading from electrical drawings to fault find on motors, servos, and 415v and 24v circuits. Alongside this you will also be checking the inputs and outputs on a PLC.
  • Mechanically you will carry out the removal and replacement on broken and worn component parts such as chains, sprockets, linear bearings, and ball screws.

The Candidate, what we are looking for in an applicant;

  • Based anywhere in the UK
  • Hold an Electrical apprenticeship or electrical qualifications
  • Mechanically capable of – removing and replacing broken and worn component parts such as chains, linear bearings, gearboxes and so on.
  • Happy to travel and be aware 2 – 3 times a week
  • Experience on CNC woodworking machinery
