Engineering & Maintenance Shift Supervisor Full Time

My client, an industry leading manufacturer of products for the B2B market, currently seeks an Engineering & Maintenance Shift Supervisor to play a key role in the delivery of plant efficiency and reliability improvements for their County Durham operation.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Engineering Shift Supervisor will be tasked with working effectively with all internal functions/departments in delivering a world class maintenance/engineering resource for this intensive manufacturing site. Working on a 4 on/4 off 12 hour continental style shift pattern across a day and night pattern, the main responsibilities of the role include:

• Mentoring and development of maintenance team members
• Reactive and planned maintenance activities
• Act as lead on site and plant improvement projects
• HSE management
• Providing a hands on day to day management of each individual shift
• Monitor and manage individual breakdown response and repair times
• Build and develop team skills through training, feedback, one to one support and skills matrix activities
• Continuous improvement
• Work directly with suppliers to ensure spares availability
• Management/coordination of on-site contractors

To be considered for the role, it is ESSENTIAL that you are a time-served/ apprentice certified engineering professional. You must also possess a multi-skilled maintenance engineering skillset, ideally with an electrical bias. You will also possess experience gained to Supervisor/Managerial level.

Key selection criteria include:

• Demonstrable experience gained in a maintenance/engineering supervisory or managerial position working within the manufacturing sector
• Experience gained in a heavy industrial/manufacturing setting would be preferred
• 17th edition certification
• Proven leadership and management skills
• Training and personnel development expertise
• Good knowledge of HSE legislation and requirements
• Knowledge and experience of implementing continuous improvement activities
• Excellent communication skills
• Prepared to work on a 4 on/4off continental shift pattern
• Possess full UK driving license
