Legal Secretary Full Time

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established law firm based in Sunderland, who are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join their team, supporting the Head of Conveyancing.


You will have a strong commitment to client care, with an efficient and courteous telephone manner and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other organisations. It is essential that you have strong audio typing skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and are highly organised with an eye for attention to detail. The successful candidate will be able to be flexible to work proactively alone and as part of a team, and able to handle additional workload from other fee earners if the business need arises.


Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • The maintenance of instructing fee earner’s typing and filing.
  • Checking of post, planned events and voicemail messages in fee earners absence, dealing with any routine matters
  • Dealing with clients by telephone and/or in person, dealing with queries and taking messages etc. where necessary
  • Reception duties as and when required
  • Filing, photocopying and other clerical duties
  • Checking Legal Aid payments and distribution thereof, where applicable
  • Payment in to and requisition of cheques and cash
  • Where appropriate, ensuring file management is in accordance with Quality Procedures Manual, SRA Code, LAA Contract, Lexcel, CQS and SQM requirements
  • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
  • Contributing to maintaining and improving office procedures.
