Maintenance Supervisor Full Time

We are working on behalf of our client, an International Group manufacturing within Tier 1 Automotive who are looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join them at their high volume manufacturing site in Washington.


This is a permanent role reporting in to the Maintenance Manager and you will be expected to effectively manager and coordinate maintenance in the plant ensuring the repair of plant and equipment to the highest standard within an extremely tight schedule, by effective planning and labour motivation. To contribute towards improvements in both efficiency and costs. Provide Technical Backup.


The role


  • To supervise, organise and co-ordinate all (Mechanical/Electrical) Maintenance personnel to include Health & Safety, work allocation and discipline
  • To continually assess ways of working in the maintenance areas to reduce accidents whilst promoting Health & Safety
  • To organise work patterns, overtime, holiday coverage etc. in line with Company requirements
  • To promote improvement in people skills and environment
  • Provide systematic approach to problem solving and co-ordinate activities
  • To promote and control best practice in housekeeping in all areas of the department
  • Attend and support actions from 8D, Production and daily management meetings
  • Ensure training and development needs of department are fulfilled using skills matrix
  • Available to support out of normal working hours
  • To enforce ‘best practice’ in Health & Safety on all To plan and co-ordinate all repairs to plant and equipment
  • aspects of day-to-day working
  • To monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and provide information for Departmental reporting
  • To maintain the maintenance management system including shift handovers, quality concerns, data analysis, weekend work planning, planned maintenance system, shutdown planning, engineering activities and housekeeping
  • Liaise with purchasing to ensure adequate supply of spare parts
  • Hold weekly meeting reviews with relevant KPI’s and ongoing activities
  • Ensure major breakdown reports are complete
  • Plan and co-ordinate shutdown activities




  • ONC/HNC in an Engineering Discipline
  • Recognised 4 year apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
  • Experience of fast paced, JIT, demanding work environment (high volume tier 1 automotive environment would be advantageous)
  • To have worked in a supervisory capacity, managing a team of skilled trade employees (project managing shutdown/improvement activities)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office packages, Maintenance Management Modules such as SAP, Captor or OEE Software monitoring)
  • The ability to cope with the pressures of a demanding manufacturing environment
  • A confident approach to effectively deal with a variety of people within the business structure
  • Results driven, with the enthusiasm and reslience to see a job well done through effective ownership
  • Good interpersonal and organisation skills, ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Self motivated, have confidence in making decisions and have a proactive attitude
  • Postive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances
