NPI Lead Tooling Engineer Full Time


Experienced Tooling Engineer required to Support the development, procurement and introduction of new tooling into West Midlands site, also supporting Customer Engineering Change Requests, SMED Activity Improvements, cost down improvements & existing Tooling issues within Plant when required.


Key Tasks/Responsibilities

This will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead New Tooling procurement
  • Review and complete component feasibility with regards to tooling processes
  • ‘A’ Layout reviews
  • Tooling design reviews
  • Lead tool design approval
  • Tooling supplier monitoring and liaison
  • Reporting tooling & project status
  • Conduct TB01 and TB02 tooling buy off activity
  • Support introduction of new tooling into Plant/Production
  • Ensure tooling standards are adhered to
  • Identify and schedule improvement opportunities
  • Lead or support Engineering Changes to Die Tooling
  • In Plant support when required

Essential Skills, Qualifications, Competencies and Experience Required

  • HNC/Degree or equivalent in an Engineering Discipline
  • To have served a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship as a Toolmaker or equivalent.
  • Capable of working autonomously with objectives being set by the Senior Stamping Engineer.
  • Ability to develop and successfully achieve project timing requirements.
  • Interpersonal skill level capable of communicating at all levels.
  • General computer literacy with a working knowledge of all relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and SAP working knowledge, together with good verbal and numerical aptitude
  • Possess the ability to lead and motivate a team of people to bring out the best in them
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude towards change, with a willingness to be flexible and adapt to new circumstances.
  • A proven background of leadership abilities combined Tooling Experience including implementation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and manage resources & self to achieve objectives and priorities despite conflicting agendas and multiple deliveries.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A general knowledge of AutoCAD, Catia and other tooling development software is preferable.
  • Driving license


Special requirements

Based in West Midlands but will be required to travel Abroad to support New Tooling Buyoff / design reviews; driving licence preferred


38 hours basic. Monday – Friday, overtime and weekend working when required.
