Scottish Claims Handler

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Scottish Claims Handler to join a major insurer client based in Glasgow.

The Role

Litigating & handling a caseload of Scottish Road traffic cases from drafting through to proof.

To settle cases through negotiation and litigation.

To ensure that caseload is dealt with proactively and driven towards settlement or decisions regarding prospects of success.

To input into processes and work flow for litigation and ensure that all cases are driven towards settlement through proactive case management.

To work on and maintain daily court diary.

Arrange appearance of local agents throughout Sheriff Courts in Scotland where appropriate.

To provide quality technical legal advice and solutions to clients and also colleagues as required.

To carry our regular work reviews on all cases to ensure housekeeping is updated on all files.

To provide quality assistance and solutions to clients as required.

To keep abreast of changes in legal practice within the post holder’s area of specialism, disseminating this information as appropriate, ensuring the Firm’s legal advice reflects best practice and any new market opportunities are developed.

To meet on a regular basis with the person to whom the post holder reports to review cases and any other matters relevant to the post holder’s position. To report to the post holder’s supervisor immediately any difficulties being experienced, in particular, those which may lead to a negligence action being taken against the firm and/or a complaint from a client via the Law Society and/or the firm’s complaints procedure.


Candidates should have a minimum of 1 years’ experience within a litigation environment for road traffic accidents and will ideally have a Scottish paralegal qualification.
