Our public sector client based in South Shields have an exciting opportunity for experienced Welfare Support Advisor to join their busy team.

Hours Monday to Friday 8.30am 4.30pm
Purpose of the role
To be responsible for the provision of a proactive detailed Welfare Benefit and Debt Advice service in relation to residents in the borough, including work with those who have debt issues, withdrawal of benefits, support into employment, welfare reforms, eviction, or threat of eviction. To represent residents in respect of appeals and tribunals, up to and including county court.
Educated to GCSE or equivalent or willing to work towards an equivalent qualification.
Experience of working in, debt and/or benefits advice.
Experience of meeting targets and deadlines
Experience in dealing with people in social care, support or advice settings
Experience of working in partnership with support agencies and partners.
Understanding of current housing issues, income and debt collection
Customer Service experience
