Ship to Shore have been operating since 2000 and we are the main supplier of temporary labour in the Ports in the North East. With access to first class training facilities, Ship to Shore trains and places port operatives across the full spectrum of port logistics roles. We have ongoing contracts with all North East Ports; including Port of Blyth, Seaham Harbour, Sunderland, Port of Tyne, Hartlepool and Teesport; supplying further afield such as Forth Port. We also provide riggers for onshore barge movements and heavy lifts for companies such as Osprey and South Bay Civil Engineering. Our specialism is cargo handling within the Ports, but we are also able to provide warehousing and specialist services for our clients, which include Egger UK Ltd and Valenbeck Ltd.
Roles We Cover
We supply Cargo Supervisors, Stevedores, Heavy Plant Operators and Warehousemen to all our clients. Skills included can be: Loading Shovel, Mustang, Terminal Tractor, Stackers and FLT up to 32 tonnes. In addition we have also supplied 8 wheel tippers, telescopic handlers, overhead & harbour crane operators, 360 drivers.
Our workers handle a variety of break bulk, solid bulk and project cargo at all the mentioned sites on a regular basis, these include steel products, forest products and heavy lifts. Many of our workers have attained level 2 in NVQ port operations and other disciplines.
All of our workers are trained to minimum industry standards. We have an in-depth training induction programme which includes a 3 day in-house induction and a 2-day slinger/banksman course. The induction includes Port Safety Awareness, International Ship & Port Facility Security Training, Manual Handling, Face Fit Test & Hazardous Cargo Awareness and a Hatchman Responsibilities Course. The two day Slinger/Banksman course is conducted externally by nationally recognised instructors.
Our management team are industry specialists, holding IOSH and NEBOSH qualifications; we are experienced assessors / instructors able to provide industry relevant qualifications and consultancy both internally and commercially. We run a 24/7 operation, whereby our clients can contact a member of management at any time. All the work we do is scheduled in line with shipping; typically all bookings and manning of shifts are completed on a day -to- day basis, with the exception of some weekends. Monday bookings can be taken in advance on the Friday and we are on call evenings and weekends to deal with last minute bookings or any amendments to manning.
